Christmas Holidays 2008

The holidays are fast approaching, but this year I can't get in the mood. My children are 16 and 24 and couldn't really care a fig if the house was decorated. My husband hates Christmas so if the house isn't decorated he doesn't care either. So what's a poor girl to do. Just put some little things out to let us know that's it's the Christmas season.
Last night I was watching a movie, Fred Claus with Vince Vaughan, see if it would inspire me to get out some more decorations, try to get into the festive mood, which I have to say I usually am, I start playing christmas music in November. Fred Claus not the greatest movie that was ever made but charming enough, while watching the movie my husband asked me if I believed in Santa Claus as a kid, yes of course I did, who didn't, he didn't, never did, he says, I can't believe him, refuse to believe that he didn't believe in the jolly big man in the red suit. We asked our son if he believed in Santa, yes he did, our daughter who is 24, I vividly remember her believing in Santa, who doesn't believe in Santa, I mean of course I know it all has to do with Christianity, other religions celebrate other things. Hey, I get that, and Santa is Saint Nicholas, and doesn't go around in a sleigh with eight tiny reindeer. I get it all. I wish that I still believed. Then just maybe I can get into the christmas spirit this year.

This Parrot is Demised.

There is nothing that can't be cured with a good chuckle. And I have to say that for me, nothing beats Monty Python. Oh sure you've got some other people, groups who can make the belly jiggle, George Carlin for one, Richard Pryor for another, oh and don't forget Cheech and Chong, god I loved those guys in high school. Lily Tomlin who doesn't love her as Ernestine, Bob Newhart. Those new guys Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock etc.
But the ultimate in chuckledom in my humble opinion is Monty Python. I was just listening to the Dead Parrot sketch on my ipod and laughing out loud, and got this funny look from this young guy on the subway. I couldn't help my self. It's funny.

And some days it's just what you need to lighten up your mood.
I saw a sneak preview of Mamma Mia last night. Very enjoyable, I have to say. The cast is excellent. I especially liked Julie Walters. Peirce Brosnan can't sing but hey, what can we expect from a former James Bond. Meryl Streep is great, and she can sing. All and all a movie that was losts of fun. And the scenery, oh man I want to go there. Just to be by the sea and eat delicious food. Alas my husband place over looks the sea but not like in Mamma Mia. Plus it's in a different part of Greece. Greece, I kinda want to go there but I would want to bring my dogs. And I can't see that happening.

My first blog.
